A Contemporary House of Worship in the Heart of the City
Ngee Koon’s interior build works for a place of worship at Orchard Towers transformed a commercial shell into a warm and contemporary house of worship. Through careful spatial planning, refined material transitions, and a calm interior palette, the project creates an environment that supports both congregational services and community gatherings.
The works comprise a full interior fit-out package, encompassing worship and congregational spaces, circulation zones, gathering areas, and supporting facilities. The design direction draws on timber finishes, neutral surfaces, and integrated lighting to create a calm, dignified atmosphere that feels both welcoming and purposeful.
A consistent use of wood tones softens the larger commercial setting and brings warmth to the interior. Feature walls, built-in joinery, and carefully detailed ceilings define each zone while maintaining a sense of visual restraint. Layered lighting further enhances the atmosphere, supporting both the spiritual character of the space and its practical daily use.
The layout is planned to support clear wayfinding, smooth movement, and flexible use across different church functions. Public-facing areas, communal zones, and service spaces are organised to feel intuitive and accessible. Built-in counters, display shelving, seating elements, and washroom joinery contribute to a coherent and efficient interior finish.
Attention to detailing is evident at the interfaces between wall panelling, cabinetry, and ceiling treatments. The project demonstrates a clean standard of execution that is essential in a worship setting, where visual calm and durability are equally important. Overall, the build works reflect Ngee Koon’s ability to translate design intent into a cohesive and practical interior environment.
